10. Genoa Antique Store – Genoa, Nevada
More than just any antique bazaar, Genoa Antique Store is equal parts antique jungle, dusty museum, and emporium of fine old things. Ron Bommarito took over the Genoa Antique Shop in 1969 in this historic frontier town about 13 miles south of Carson City and spent nearly a half-century filling the stone-and-wooden building with piles of historic Western bric-a-brac that teeter unsteadily like dusty houses of cards.
Ron Bommarito focuses on all types of historic objects, but is mainly interested in collecting things that represent the history of the West. The shop is filled to the brim with thousands of antiques, worth anywhere from just a few bucks to many thousand dollars. The tiny place is so full of items that customers must pick their way along one narrow aisle that loops past the main display case. But that’s just how any antique store worth its salt should be.
