Boasting thousands of vendors across six states and 690 miles, Highway 127 Corridor Sale earns bragging rights as “The World’s Longest Yard Sale.” The route extends from Addison, Michigan to Gadsden, Alabama – with a side hop onto Lookout Mountain, Georgia.

Scope out goods in fairgrounds, campgrounds, old barns, and church parking lots. Search booths for garden statuary, iron bed frames and bird cages, crocheted linens, and fishing lures. Covering 400 miles from Mesquite, Texas to Jackson, Mississippi, Historic US 80 Hwy Sale hosts hundreds of vendors along ranches and rural farmland. Fields are chock-full of furniture, vinyl, housewares and tools, especially old farm equipment. And no highway yard sale is complete without thrifty knickknacks and toys.

Typically, the event runs twice a year on the third weekend in April and October. Group sites cluster multiple booths into one stop, particularly around Texas. Rivaling Route 66 in American highway lore, the US 80 Hwy Sale will delight vintage enthusiasts.

Nicknamed the “Happenin,” the US 11 Antique Alley and Yard Sale is certainly the place to be. Over 30,000 visitors travel the 502-mile route to shop antiques and collectibles across five states and 80 participating towns from Meridian, Mississippi to Bristol, Virginia.

The annual event happens the four-day weekend following Mother’s Day. Look for metal gliders and wrought iron patio furniture, railroad lanterns and Coca-Cola memorabilia across lawns and courthouse squares. Fresh local honey, quilts and crocheted linens also line these beautiful backroads of southern Appalachia.

6. Historic National Road Yard Sale – US 40 Yard Sale

The Historic National Road Yard Sale on US 40 stretches 800-plus miles from Maryland to Missouri across the heart of “Main Street of America.” Kitschy motels as well as rustic log cabins dot this 200-year-old bypass.

The annual sale typically begins the Wednesday after Memorial Day and lasts for five days. As such, options are limitless. Anticipate primitive furniture and kitchenware, retro décor and clothing, and yard sale trinkets. Yet also discover a potential honey hole along “antique alley,” a 66-mile loop brimming with over 1200 dealers.

Nestled in New York’s Finger Lakes region, Route 90 – 50 Mile Garage Sale pairs wine trails with yard sales. The annual roadside event occurs the last full weekend in July and spans from Montezuma to the Village of Homer.

Visitors can find antique andirons and furniture, vintage radios and clothing, and various collectibles. According to local legend, the sale originated when neighbors barged into a resident’s barn to buy up old farm equipment and hand tools. Hence, a rummage sale that now draws enthusiasts from around the country.

Bridging southern Michigan’s east and west shores, seven communities among this Great Lakes region participate in the US 12 Heritage Trail Garage Sale. The annual event is held every second weekend of August. Considered Michigan’s longest garage sale, it stretches 180 miles.   

Sale-goers can not only find Victorian and Arts and Crafts style furniture, but also garden statuary, crystal, and glassware such as American Fostoria. Comb through common yard sale wares while also expecting the unexpected. In fact, a coffin turned up once.

9. Virginia’s 100 Mile Yard Sale

Binge once a year during this one-day highway yard sale blowout event. Virginia’s 100 Mile Yard Sale opens from 7 am until the last shopper is standing every first Saturday of July. And thousands of antique lovers visit the fifteen participating towns from Chula Junction to South Boston.

Among higher end merchandise are antique desks and furniture, such as Mid-century modern cabinets. Maybe come across a 1960s Ford Mustang too. Spindle bed frames, glassware, kerosene lamps, patio furniture, and framed vintage artwork are, however, more likely.
